My Britney Spears Moment

Remember that time when Britney was carrying her son and tripped and almost dropped her son? (This was before her kids were taken from her and the nightly news followed all her mama drama.) I would just like to say that I defended what happened. If a camera crew followed me around 24-7 waiting for me to do something stupid or make a mistake then, of course they would "catch me". So with that said, I will tell you what happened Friday afternoon.

We had just gotten home from picking up Big D from school and I thought I would let Miss P and O-Dog play in the backyard for a while before their nap. After a minute, the doorbell rang, Big D answered the door and it was O-dog. He said Miss P was running away. I looked in the direction he was pointing and she was 2 houses down the sidewalk! I ran after her, all the while she's squealing with delight and running away. I gathered her up and took them inside. Apparently, O-dog had gotten a chair and stood up on it next to the gate and opened it up. I told him not to do that, it's dangerous, blah...blah...blah...and let them go back to playing in the backyard. I sat down to look at Big D's report card. Not 2 minutes later the doorbell rang again. I realized what was happening and ran to the door. It's O-dog. My eyes scanned the sidewalk both ways....no Miss P.....scanned to the right again.....about 10 houses down I caught a flash of pink scurrying down the sidewalk. I actually thought to myself, "wow, at least she stayed on the sidewalk"! If you know anything about my kids, you would know that they are fast runners! We ran down and got her, but in the meantime some of the neighbors had seen the situation unfolding and began to gather. A lady in a car pulled up to Big-D, who got to Miss P first and said that she almost got hit by a car! Another lady pushing a stroller with 3 kids told me the same thing. I think I mumbled something about her little brother and the gate and thanks for your concern and booked it back home! I promptly went into the house and put them down for their naps.

Funny thing is, I wasn't all that embarrassed. Yes, of course I was a little, but I was more grateful she was okay. Even as I write this, I have so many feelings and thoughts running through my mind. As crazy as it seems, I even have to laugh a little at the thought of Miss P squealing with delight as we ran to catch her.

So say what you will about me. I know I am not perfect. Just wait until the day when you get "caught" in your Britney Spears moment.

Hey, Stephanie. It's me, Alison (Foster). Had to check out your BS moment after Kristin revealed hers. I'm so sorry you have runners, too. The FIRST WEEK we moved into this house, Russell had a basketball game to go to and I was putting Trenton down for the night. I heard the "beep beep" of the door but figured it was Russell. I continued to put Trenton down and got to the hallway to see the front door wide open! I booked it downstairs and out the front door only to see Brennen (in his white jammers) in a full sprint after Russell's truck, which was just turning onto McRoberts. I don't think I have ever run so fast in my life. Thankfully, like no one lived here then and it was just open space and roads.

Once Ana left for school, took Gabe with her..did not lock the front door. I went upstairs to get ready to leave leah was with me..the doorbell rings. Apparently Nolan had gone out front and a lady in a SUV decided to bring him back to the house.. he was about 16months old.. It was awful..Luckily it was NOT a very busy street.

Let me tell you this has happened to me 3 times now with Little Miss M. 3 times the same neighbour has had to return her home. First 2times was because our security door was broken and my 12 year old would forget to close/lock the main door. The 3rd time b/c my 'darling' husband was bringing in the shopping from the car and left the door wide open. I was putting Flynn down to sleep at the time, came out to get Marisol and he joked that she was probably just out in the street ... yep she sure was :(
